Once you've found or created a venue, simply tap on 'Leave a Review' on the venue details page. You'll need to add at least one photo or video (either taken in the app or added from your library), tap to choose the star rating and then add a little text if you want to. Then just press submit.

If we can't upload your review when you submit it, you'll see a message that let's you know. Don't we'll keep on trying and will upload your review as soon as we can.

You can leave a review whenever you want to. But if our algorithm can't work out whether you've been to the venue then you will get a low reliability score and the review won't count towards badges or the average rating for the venue. Whether you need to leave the review at the venue depends on your location settings. If you've given Revuie permission to always access your location, you don't need to leave the review while you are at the venue. If you've given Revuie to access your location while using the app, then you'll need to open the app while you are there. More details about the location settings are available in the 'Location Tracking & Beacons' section. Also, don't forget that you can only add new venues while you are there. So if the venue isn't on our map, you'll need to add it while you are there, regardless of your location settings.

If you have any concerns about a review, you can report it to us. Tap on the triple dot icon to the right side of the review heading (the bar where the username is) and choose 'Report'. Then choose a reason for reporting the review. You can also add further comments, which are optional unless you choose 'Another Reason'.

The ReAl Score is our patent-pending technology that allows you to easily see which views you can trust. Our Revuie Algorithm (or ReAl) uses a variety of data to give a reliability rating for each review. The ReAl Score combines the star rating the user gave the venue with an orange background which is brighter for reviews with high reliability ratings.

It sounds complicated, but put more simply, the reviews you can trust jump of the page, while less reliable reviews just fade away. Watch the video below to see it in action.

With Revuie, you need to be at a venue to add it - you can't do it from somewhere else. Once you are there, just tap on the + icon in the navigation bar, and check your venue does not appear in the list. If it doesn't then you can tap on 'Add Venue'.

You'll need to enter the venue name and the venue type. All other venue information is optional, but if you can enter any more it would help other users, especially if you can add any tags that help describe the venue or any of the contact information. Once you've entered the information, you just tap 'Add Venue' to save the information.

If you are in the search/map view, you can also add a venue by tapping the + icon at the top left.

You can fine tune the location of the Venue by tapping 'Tap to pinpoint location'. Then move the map so the cross is over the location of the venue. To help make sure that locations are correct, you can only add venues that are near your location. The limits of how far you can shift the location are shown by the grey circle.

We don’t use any external databases of venues, so every venue that you see in our app has been added by a Revuie user or by our team. So you might find that there are not many venues in your city. Don’t worry, adding a venue is really easy, and takes seconds.

There a few ways to find venues. If you tap on the ‘Add’ icon in the toolbar (a plus symbol in a speech bubble) then we’ll list the nearest venues to your location.

Or you can tap on the search icon in the toolbar (the magnifying glass) to see nearby locations on the map. From this page, you can also search for locations by name, venue type and more. To do this tap the search icon at the top right and enter your search criteria in the ‘Venue Search’ tab. You can move the map to another location by moving to the ‘Map Search’ tab.

A great way to discover more venues is to look at the ‘Suggested Venues’ on the badge details page of your profile for badges that you have in progress.

Claim Venue allows the venue owner to ‘claim’ the venue in our app, so that they can add photos and edit the details. If you own a venue, then simply tap on Claim Venue to register your claim and we’ll get in touch. If the Claim Venue link doesn’t appear, it means that someone has already claimed the venue. If that’s the case, and you don’t know who has claimed it, please contact us.

From the venue details page, simply tap ‘Suggest an Edit’ and enter the details. We check all edits before updating venue details.

From the venue details page, tap the ‘Get Directions’ link which is underneath the address. This will then load your maps app, or if you have multiple apps, will ask you which one to load.

We don't have the functionality in the app to suggest an edit for a venue's location yet. If you spot a venue that is in the wrong location, please message us on our social channels or through the contact us link.

Most of our badges are earned by leaving reviews. The badge description will tell you more about what counts towards a particular badge, and each badge will have different criteria - which might be based on the type of venue, or the tags that venues are marked with, or a location. The badge description will also tell you how many reviews you need. Most badges have different levels, and you can work your way up the levels as you review more venues.

There are also special badges for certain actions, for example Map Maker, which you earn by adding venues, and Editor which you earn for editing venues.

The first thing to check is the ReAl Score. If the background isn’t very bright, this means that our algorithm has scored your review with a low reliability rating. Reviews with low reliability ratings do not count towards badges. Check out our tips on getting a good ReAl Score.

Another reason might be that the review doesn’t match the criteria for the badge. For example, where a badge needs to be in a certain location, we calculate whether it is based on an area we’ve drawn to establish the location boundaries. If the venue is outside that area, it won’t count for the badge. If you experience this, and think we’ve got the area wrong, reach out to us on social or vie the contact us page and let us know.

Another example would be venue types. Badge criteria only look at the main venue type, and ignore any additional venue types. So if you review a venue that has ‘hotel’ set as the main venue type, but also has ‘restaurant’ and ‘bar’ as additional types, it would count towards ‘Hotel Hopper’ but not ‘Bar Buff’ and ‘Restaurant Rover’.

Finally, a venue can only count towards each badge once for each app user. You can review a venue as multiple times, but only the first review will count towards badges.

We check all new venues after they are added to make sure that they are not duplicates of other venues. So, although the venue will appear in the map immediately, it’s only when we’ve checked it that it will count towards the Map Maker badge. We always try to check new venues as soon as possible, but sometimes there may be a delay.

We check all suggested edits before setting them live, and it’s only once we’ve checked the edit that it will count towards the Editor badge. We always try to check edits as soon as possible, but sometimes there may be a delay. Also, only one edit per venue counts towards the Editor badge for each app user.

You can use Revuie to look for venues without creating a profile. But to add venues or reviews, you'll need a profile. To make one, tap on the person icon in the bottom navigation bar. You can use your Apple or Google account to login, or create an account with your email address and a password. You also need a username.

From your profile, tap on the cog in the top right to access settings. From here, tap on Edit Profile and then Change Profile Photo.

Yes, you can delete your profile, which will then delete your data in line with our Account Deletion Policy. From your profile, tap on the cog in the top right to access settings. From here, tap on Edit Profile and then Delete Account.

Reviews must achieve at least a minimum reliability rating (which we call the reliability threshold) for their star rating to be included in the average rating for a venue, and to count towards the review requirements for badges.

We also use location data to help us select which reviews to show in the latest reviews feed, to return the closest results in the search, and to show you your location on the map.

While location plays an important part in our app, we totally understand that some users may have concerns about sharing where they are. We've set out below the various options that you have for sharing your location on an Android device, and what features you'll be able to use with each option, so you can make an informed decision on which is best for you based on how you want to use the Revuie app.

Always: with this option we can record location data and beacons at any time, even when you are not using the app. This means that you can create reviews after you have visited venues and still achieve a good ReAl Score. It's a great option if you want to focus on your night out, and catch up on reviewing the venues later! The latest reviews feed, place search and map will also be tailored to your location. You may find that this option increases battery usage.

While Using The App: with this option we can record location data and beacons whenever you are using the app. You can achieve a good ReAl Score on your reviews, as long as you make sure you open the app while you are at the venue, even if you create the review later. But if you forget to open the app while at the venue, you won't achieve a good ReAl Score, so your star rating won't count towards the average for the venue, and the review will not count towards any badges. With this option, the latest reviews feed, place search and map will also be tailored to your location.

Ask Every Time: with this option, you'll be prompted to share your location each time the app requests it. You'll be able to achieve a good ReAl Score, as long as you make sure you open the app and share your location while you are at the venue, even if you create the review later. But if you forget to open the app while at the venue, or choose not to share your location that time, you won't achieve a good ReAl Score, so your star rating won't count towards the average for the venue, and the review will not count towards any badges. With this option, the latest reviews feed, place search and map will also be tailored to your location whenever your share it.

Deny: with this option, you'll be able to get basic functionality in the app. The latest reviews feed will not be tailored to your location, the map and place search will default to Revuie's home town - Birmingham, UK. You won't achieve a good ReAl Score, so your star rating won't count towards the average for the venue, and the review will not count towards any badges.

Whichever setting you choose, you can always change it later in Settings, by going to Location, then App Permissions and scrolling down to find Revuie in the list.

Never: with this option, you'll be able to get basic functionality in the app. The latest reviews feed will not be tailored to your location, the map and place search will default to Revuie's home town - Birmingham, UK. You won't achieve a good ReAl Score, so your star rating won't count towards the average for the venue, and the review will not count towards any badges.

As well as these options, you can choose whether to enable Precise Location or not. If you switch off Precise Location then you will be unable to achieve a good ReAl Score. The latest reviews feed, place search and map will still be tailored to your location, but not as precisely.

Whichever setting you choose, you can always change it later in Settings, by going to Privacy, the Location Services and scrolling down to find Revuie in the list.

You also have the option to delete your account, which means that any location data will be deleted in line with our Account Deletion Policy, or just to delete your location data. You can find these options in the settings area of your profile, on the Edit Profile page.

Revuie Beacons are small devices that can be placed in venues. These Bluetooth low energy beacons transmit information which contains a unique identifier. The Revuie app listens for Revuie beacons, and when it finds one it records the beacon's unique information along with the time the data was received.

When you place a review, our systems can match whether you have been near any beacons that are registered to the venue and this is part of the data that is used to calculate the reliability rating in our ReAl Score.

The data from Revuie Beacons can give a more reliable indication of whether you have been to a venue than location data, so can lead to higher reliability scores.

Your location settings will control when the app listens for Revuie Beacons.

Yes, you can delete your location and beacon data. From your profile, tap on the cog in the top right to access settings. From here, tap on Edit Profile and then Delete Location History. This will not affect reviews that you have already made, but there would be no location data available for any new reviews for venues that you have already visited. Deleting your location data does not change your location settings, so new data may continue to be recorded if your settings allow it. You may want to check your settings and make sure you are happy with them.

If you see an error sharing to Instagram, it maybe that you have not authorised Instagram to access your photos. To do this go to Settings then choose Instagram and set Photos to All Photos.

When you upload a review, you'll be able to share it directly from the confirmation screen. You can choose to share to Facebook or Instagram, or tap on more to choose other options. This will create an image for you to share with the first image from your review, along with your username, the venue name and the ReAl Score that shows your star rating and our reliability rating for the review. You can also share your own reviews at a later point by tapping on the triple dot icon on the review and choosing share. If your review is below our reliability rating threshold, then the share option won't be available.

You can share your completed or in progress badges from the badge detail page. Just tap on the sharing icon (the square with an arrow pointing up). You can choose to share to Facebook or Instagram, or tap on more to choose other options. This will create an image for you to share with the badge image and your username, and your progress on the badge.

Our Account Deletion Policy aims to balance prompt removal of your information with the ability to change your mind if you delete your account by mistake.

When you delete your account:

• All reviews will be hidden immediately
• All location history and beacon history will be marked for deletion and will be permanently deleted as soon as possible
 
• 72 hours after you deleted your account:
   
  • any photos and videos will be marked for deletion and will be deleted as soon as possible,
   
  • review text will be marked for deletion and will be deleted as soon as possible,
  • the location data from where the review was created will be marked for deletion and will be deleted as soon as possible,
  • your profile data (email address, username, and password) will be marked for deletion and will be deleted as soon as possible
  • the remaining review data (date and time the review was made and the rating given to the venue) will remain, but will no longer be associated with any data linked to you
• For the avoidance of doubt, any Venue Data that you have added or edited will not be deleted and will remain visible.

If you change your mind about deleting your account, please contact us as soon as possible and we will cancel the deletion of reviews and photos if we are able to do so.
